Hi Everyone,

We are in the process of updating the website to support images, add new forum topics and upgrading to the latest version of the CMS the site is build upon.

Please excuse any strange formatting on the website while we make these changes. We are trying to keep disruption to a minimum.

Many thanks,
John

How are things going? Any new additions to the software? How are the web site updates coming along?

How are things going?

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the questions.

We're always keeping busy working on features. We should be getting a new build together soon. Our changelist so far is as follows:

- Updated user-interface.
- The Front-End Editor selection dialog shows which pages contain content.
- A snap to grid option has been added to the Level Editor.
- Added Banking effect to automatically rotate an Entity in response to the controller input. e.g. Bank 30 degrees Roll when controller moves left.
- Tweaked the cursor position and text highlighting in Text Boxes and Spin Boxes.
- There is now consistent ordering of [Cancel] and [OK] buttons.
- NPC Generator Spawn nodes display correct icon.
- Collision spheres are now drawn to the correct size (using the model scale) in the Level Editor.
- Converted Sprite pages from Targa (tga) to Portable Network Graphics (png) format.
- The names of Splines and Checkpoints are now saved correctly again.
- Fixed a potential crash going between Sound Items and Sound Cues.
- Fixed a potential crash when editing shader parameters.
- Fixed an issue with controller Effects always being processed.
- Splines and NPC Generators can be copy and pasted.
- Player and NPC Entities are notified when they use Triggers or Splines.
- Splines been re-enabled in the Behaviour Editor.
- Triggers have some new properties (HasBeenTriggered and TriggerOnceOnly).
- Splines have some new properties (Display In-Game and LineWidth).
- Removed the Arial font. The User Interface now exclusively uses Calibri.

We also have some nice effects which are almost complete. These include easier to use shadows, reflective surfaces, and improved particle trails.

The website updates have slowed a little as we did some contract work last year and we still haven't been paid. While this isn't a risk to our business it has prevented us from hiring the PR help we need and, as such, we have had to take on some more contract work. It's not an ideal situation and we thank you for your patience.

Thanks,
John

The update sounds great. Once it's out it'll be a great time to jump back into SEUK.

I perfectly understand how things go in the real life. I was in contracting for a while which is why I moved back to full-time employment (seems to be either feast or famine when contracting and I've also been in the position where I haven't been paid but really needed the money.)

Change List

Hi Miki,

We didn't have the User-defined variables in when I posted that list but we do now. :)

There is a 'User Variable' type in the Behaviour Editor. When you select it you can choose between creating a new variable or selecting from a list of variables you have already created.

We expect to release the next update within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks,
John

Awesome. User-defined variables is something I really wanted. That is good news.

John, I am really looking forward to the forum update. It would be great to be able to post images and share work in progress. * hint hint * (I know you are really busy but I just wanted to bump this thread.)

Website Update

Hi StevenP,

I'm really keen on making the website update available. It was coming along really well when a number of factors forced us to stop. It looks like we are almost ready to resume work and finish the upgrade.

Sharing images is an important way of building the community as we all want to share what we are working on. It's also helpful for resolving problems as a screenshot of a dialog box is far more helpful than a description.

Thanks for bumping the thread. It is an important feature.

John

Hi John,

Quick question... are there any plans to make the website mobile friendly?

I haven't looked into what package you currently use to make the site, but I know HTML and CSS and am more than happy to help create a responsive, (mobile friendly) version if that's of any use to you.

Hi John,

I'm sorry it has taken so long to reply to your quick question. Your question got us thinking and led to a bit of research. But we should have posted a reply sooner to keep you up-to-date with what we were thinking.

Anyway, thank you for your kind offer. It is really appreciated. A high percentage of browsing is done on phones or tablets and we really should get a mobile friendly version of the website.

We use Drupal as our Content Management System, and this is what led to the research. Drupal has some provision for hosting mobile versions of a site and so we were investigating what possibilities there were. There seem to be a few modules for Drupal 7, but there was nothing that jumped out as us as 'a solution'.

Are you familiar with Drupal at all? If not, it isn't a problem as it is just a framework for HTML and CSS.

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Apologies for the delay in replying. The simple answer to your question is no, I'm not familiar with Drupal, as I tend to code using Notepad++, but one of my key strengths is the ability to intensively research new technologies, (that line used to be in my CV - I'm still not sure why I removed it!) so I'll have a look and let you know what I find.

Thanks,

John.

Hi John,

Notepad++ is an excellent development tool. I use it a lot myself. :)

I'm sure you will have no problem in picking up the Drupal framework; but if you have any questions then just let me know.

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Apologies for the delay in replying. Been super busy at work, due to the new term, etc.

Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about this an am downloading Drupal as I type this.

I'll give you a shout when I've had a play with it... I mean when I've figured out how it works ;)

Hi John,

No problem - I completely understand.

Please let me know if you have any Drupal questions and I'll try my best to answer them. :)

Thanks,
John
