Hi everyone,

Been a little while since I've been here. Put together a game last year with SEUK and engaged a lot with the community to get some bugs sorted out. I've been working on other stuff since then, but now I have some new ideas, so I'm back.

Anyway, my concern has to do with the high score, pause, and quit game pages in the front-end editor. I was wondering, are there ways to get to these screens or have the user trigger them? I know that the high score screen is displayed once a game is over, but I'm kind of stuck on the other two.

Am I overlooking something simple? I apologize in advance if this has an easy answer.

And is the quit game page a "confirmation" page?

Basically what I'd also like to know is:

1) Can I link to the high score page so I can display it at any time,
2) How exactly can the user pause and quit the game.

Regarding #2, I know that you can exit the app by assigning that action to a text item or sprite on a front-end-page, or if your game is running in windowed mode, the user can click the Windows 'X' close button in the upper-right corner, but what about the Esc key? Can that shut down the game somehow?

Thanks for your help and for continuing the great work on this product.

Pause and Quit

Hi msdos622wasfun,

You can assign a button to display the Pause screen using the Player Definition. Any input control can be set to Pause. When the button is pressed the Pause screen you designed will be shown.

On the Pause screen you can add text or an image and set the On Click action to Exit App. Clicking the text or image will display the Quit screen which can either be a timed message, or include a button allowing you to continue the game.

At the moment the Exit App option does close the game, or the Shoot 'Em Up Kit if you're in the editor, so please be aware. We're fixing this right now! :)

Thanks,
John

Aha, now I think I understand

Aha, now I think I understand how that works. I never actually looked that deeply into the Player Definition choices.

Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for those explanations

Thanks for those explanations !

Is it be possible to add a "resize" option too in the menu or player definition ?
Because once in fullscreen mode, it's hard to quit the game :)

Edit
I just added a pause screen and i was able to add a resize text. It's working !
Thanks to both of you !

The only problem is that you have tu push the "fire" button to go out of pause :
1- It forces the player to shoot right as the game goes back
2- the allocated button ("start" on my controller) can activate the pause, but not go out of it.
