Hi everyone,

Another question. One of the bugs we got sorted out I think back in version 2.0.11 was persistent high scores; in other words, they are saved to a file when the game exits. But if I'm not mistaken, I think I noticed that the file is saved in the same directory/folder as the game executable. So if you package up a game with an installer and it gets installed to C:\Program Files (x86), and your game attempts to save a high score, then user account control is going to have an issue with that.

What I was wondering is if we could move the location of the high score table to something like C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\MyGame or something like that.

Thanks.

Location of high score file

Hi msdos622wasfun,

You're absolutely right that the file should not be stored in the root of the game. It should belong in a directory such as the one you used as an example. The more recent versions of Windows could refuse to write to the high score file if the current user doesn't have the right permissions.

I will get this sorted.

Thank you for letting me know about this.

John

By the way, there aren't any other files that the engine attempts to store in the executable directory, are there?

Location of high score file

Hi msdos622wasfun,

The save game file is stored in the executable directory too. I'm moving this as well as the high-score table. :)

Thanks again,
John
