Hi everyone,

In my current game, when I try to center my high score values (with a length of seven digits long) I get the following:

I was expecting them to line up in a column perfectly. Does it have something to do with the kind of font that is chosen?

High Scores

Hi msdos622wasfun,

If the high-score entries are centred then the Shoot 'Em Up Kit uses the Windows SDK to discover how wide they are. It could be that the font has some bad data which prevents accurate results. Does it centre correctly with other fonts?

Thanks,
John

That's an interesting theory,

That's an interesting theory, so I tested it just now. Unfortunately I'm getting the same results even with an ordinary font like Arial.

Here are more screen shots:

What I think is happening is when you click on the checkbox in the item's properties to keep it centered, it still uses the x-coordinate value that was last assigned to it. In those three screen shots above, I have the first high score at x-1000, then the second x-1200, then x-1400. And as you can see, they are displayed at those x values, even though I requested to have them centered.

But -- this is happening with text items that are formatted as numbers, not with plain text strings. So I'm thinking it's a number formatting problem?

All the other centered items in my game that are text only appear correctly centered the way I want them, even when I resize the window.

Hi msdos622wasfun,

Thank you for testing different fonts and providing a bit more insight into the issue. I'm pleased to say that we've resolved the problem now and will get a new build together very soon.

Thanks again,
John
